About Tim

Hi, my name is Tim Meuchel and I am the founder and Owner of Trade Up Consulting. People ask me all the time what I do and why I do it so here’s just a little bit about me.

My story begins several years ago at Virginia Tech, where I earned my degree in Civil Engineering. Right out of school, I secured a decent job with a hundred year old nationwide contracting company and for the next dozen years I managed large commercial construction projects from coast to coast.

Eventually as my family started to grow I personally outgrew that job and decided it was time to venture out on my own so in 2007, I founded a small construction company on the side that soon took up my entire focus.

That side business took off faster than I could have ever imagined and In 2008, I made the decision to leave the corporate world and pursue entrepreneurship full-time.

At the time I had no idea how much my twelve years working for such a successful company had prepared me to run and grow my own business.

Within less than a year my new business had taken off and I found myself adding work, employees and equipment to support the growth. We had a great run at it for about a decade until after coming out of a bad project my experiences led me to sole search and shift gears.

Almost immediately I started making changes to my company and saw immediate results that I realized could really benefit other small business owners and contractors.

This led me to author my first book called, The 10 Factor: From Struggling to Thriving Business in 10 Months which ended up a #1 Best Seller on Amazon and launched the next chapter in my entrepreneurship journey.

Over time I pivoted my business strategy and began focusing more on construction consulting and coaching other business owners.

Almost immediately I found myself working as a construction expert providing litigation support to attorneys and contractors for construction disputes involving safety, quality and pricing issues.

Simultaneously I began working as a one-on-one business coach for contractors and other small businesses.
